Test Format

The Praxis I is broken down into three distinct tests. The math test evaluates your understanding of foundational math concepts at an educated adult level. Your grammar and writing skills are evaluated in the writing test. Finally, the reading test determines your reading skill level and your ability to understand written passages.

The Praxis I tests are multiple-choice exams with essays for the writing test. These examss may be taken as a computer-based test (CBT) or as a paper-based test (PBT). With either format, you can choose to take each of the three tests separately (on separate days) or as a combined exam.

Exam Scores

The PPST Writing, Mathematics and Reading Tests have scores that range from 150 to 190. The score is broken down on the score report to show how many raw points that you received on each of the content areas of the individual tests.
